A Before & After Story in Darien
Every client has a unique story and goal for their home. For this fun loving family in Darien I was tasked with updating their house to feel colorful and full of life and joy. This may sound like a pretty standard request but it had a deep personal meaning for my client, as her husband had passed away and she needed home to be happy for three young children. It also needed to have areas that could serve as her own sanctuary where she could find peace for herself at the end of a long day of being a busy working, single mom.
Let’s take a tour and see how we made her dream home come true.
The master bedroom got a face lift with fresh white paint, new furnishings, window treatments and linens. It’s like a breath of fresh air in here. The ultimate relaxation place for a busy mom to get away from it all.
In the hallway toward the master bedroom we created a little nook for a work place just for mom. The art with the diver symbolizes her taking a dive into her future.
For the living room it was important to the client that it be inviting and a welcome place to have fun with friends. To make it fresh we built a new mantel, reupholstered an existing chair and brought in new furnishings with fun accessories and pillows for happy pops of color. It’s clear that good times happen here.
In the dining room we worked with the client’s existing table and jazzed it up with a new paneled wall, and fabulous chandelier. We layered in pops of orange to connect it to the living space and for an added dose of fun.
Art is so important in creating a mood in the home. I like to think that this bold art, shiny bright console and eclectic sculptures inspire conversation and laughter for long and memorable dinner parties.
Your space impacts how you and your loved ones feel. It brings me so much joy to know that the family living here is impacted so positively by the space we have created for them. To see more of this project visit Darien Family Home.
